Mark Stevens has more than 25 years of experience in the commercial construction industry, including 20 years in healthcare construction. An OSHA-certified state-licensed General Contractor, he holds a bachelor of science degree in building construction from the University of Florida.
Mark began his career as an intern at a prominent commercial construction company in Southwest Florida. Upon graduating from the University of Florida, he was hired to the company full time as a project manager. Within three years, he obtained his state certification as a general contractor, and after only seven years with the company, Mark was promoted to vice president. He successfully helped lead the company for another seven years, until he founded Stevens Construction Inc. in 2004.
A resident of Lee County since 1974, Mark has witnessed the growth and experienced the changes in Fort Myers first hand. To date, Mark has managed or served as the project executive on more than 150 commercial building projects with a combined value of more than $300 million. Uniquely, he has extensive experience in commercial and healthcare construction, and has attended the last 12 annual Agency for Health Care Administration seminars.
Mark's company has received several awards as a result of its commitment to excellence. At the Lee Building Industry Association Summit Awards in 2007, Stevens Construction was named Contractor of the Year. The company has taken home numerous Summit Awards since their inception, such as Newcomer of the Year, Best Healthcare Project, Best Hospitality Project, Best Renovation and Best Commercial Project. For the past three years, Stevens Construction earned Aurora Awards in a 12-state region for Best Hospitality Project and Best Healthcare Project, including a GRAND Aurora in 2009, which is the best project in its category within all price divisions, for South Seas Island Resort Kid's Pool Complex. The company also has received a Safety Star award from Associated Builders & Contractors for its custom-designed safety plan and demonstrated exemplary safety record throughout the year.
In addition to successfully leading a highly successful and award-winning young business, Mark is an active industry leader. From 2008-2010 he served as President of the Lee County Building Industry Association (LBIA) and as chairman of the Commercial Contractors Council. Today he is the Immediate Past President. A community advocate, Mark encourages employees to give back to the community and personally serves on the Shady Rest Care Pavilion's advisory board. In 2010, Mark was appointed to the Lake Nona Business Alliance, a non-profit organization focused on promoting, enhancing and diversifying the business climate in the Lake Nona vicinity of Orlando.
