FORT MYERS, Fla. (Dec. 2, 2005) – Mark Stevens, president of Stevens Construction Inc., has been appointed the Chairman of the Commercial Contractors Council for the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA).

According to Michael Reitmann, executive director of the BIA, Stevens will work toward increasing BIA membership and public recognition of the commercial contracting industry. His goal is to strengthen the BIA’s voice at both the local and state levels of government in order to facilitate needed industry changes.

Stevens also will implement a new regional commercial contractor awards program to recognize outstanding building projects and activities in Southwest Florida. “This competition is the first of its kind for the Lee BIA,” said JoAnn Orr, Director of Operations of the BIA.

A Florida native, Stevens has managed or served as the project executive on more than 150 building projects with a combined value of more than $300 million. He has more than 20 years of construction industry experience and is the founder of Stevens Construction Inc. He holds a bachelor of science in building construction from the University of Florida.
