Built in 1903 and established in 1886, the Alva United Methodist Church sustained wind damage as a result of Hurricane Irma in 2017. The entire steeple blew off onto the street and the bell was the only piece still intact. The congregation of 325 fundraised to ensure the steeple could be built to surpass its original splendor.
Stevens Construction provided the foundation and structural steel work to build a new 40-foot steeple to meet current codes. The bell was refurbished by Naples Sand Blasting and Dean Supply.
