South Seas Island Resort, a world-renown, secluded, beachfront resort, contracted with Stevens Construction to build their children’s pool complex.

South Seas Island Resort has been recognized by Parent’s Magazine as one of the Top Ten Best Beach Resorts for families, therefore, maintaining the family atmosphere that the resort was known for, was essential for this project.

The Kid’s Pool Complex provides a serene getaway where parents can relax on lounge chairs or hammocks while watching their children enjoy the waterslides and pool. The facility features a 120-foot cyclone-curved waterslide, a 50-foot vertical slide, a beach entry-pool, brick pavers, landscaping, benches and custom lighting.

South Seas Island Resort is an occupied, luxury resort filled daily with vacationers. The construction team had to be sensitive to guest’s safety and convenience and accommodated them appropriately during the construction process. For example, there was limited parking, therefore the construction team carpooled.

Since the resort is located on an island, the nearest suppliers were more than an hour away from the project. Materials had to be transported across the Sanibel causeway daily.

South Seas Island Resort had a fixed grand opening date of Thanksgiving weekend for the Kid’s Pool Complex, which the resort had been marketing to guests and potential guests during construction. The schedule of this project was very critical due to additional reservations booked because of the opening of the new attraction.

Initially, the schedule was a comfortable one to meet. However, during construction multiple changes were made by the owner which would ordinarily delay the project several weeks. In order make these project scope changes and keep the original deadline of Thanksgiving weekend, Stevens Construction implemented a seven-day work week for the final six weeks.

The construction team did meet the tight deadline and the Kid’s Pool Complex was welcomed by vacationers and has been given sensational reviews by South Seas and the guests that visit the resort. Additionally, Stevens Construction saved the client over $150,000 during the pre-construction phase.
