FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 26, 2006) – Stevens Construction received five awards at the inaugural Lee Building Industry Association (BIA) Summit Awards banquet.

In the design build category, Stevens Construction won the $0-$1 million division for its new corporate office, located in Whiskey Creek in Fort Myers. Designed in Old Florida style architecture, the 4,850-square-foot building features hearty plank siding, stacked stone and a metal roof.

In the healthcare category, the company swept all three divisions, receiving awards for the Dr. Gear medical office building in Fort Myers, the Fort Myers Retina Health Center and the 36-bed Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center expansion project, located in Sebring, Fla.

The company also received the Newcomer Contractor of the Year Award for its demonstrated superior professionalism, customer relations practices and community involvement.

The BIA Summit Awards, created by the local Commercial Contractors Council, were initiated to recognize commercial contractors who have obtained an outstanding level of success and have demonstrated superior professionalism in the commercial construction industry.

Each commercial contractor was judged on the quality of construction and the aesthetic appeal of each construction project submitted, as well as scheduling constraints that the company had to work through, any obstacles that the company had to overcome and the contractor’s safety program and record. The awards program also recognizes outstanding marketing and advertising work in the commercial industry.
