2014_summitStevens Construction Inc. earned five awards at the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA) Industry Awards event on Oct. 11, including the highest honor of Contractor of the Year, which the company won in 2012, 2011 and 2007.

A panel of judges from Orlando named Stevens Construction Contractor of the Year based on criteria such as the company’s achievement of goals, client relations, professional certifications and community responsibilities.

Pursing larger projects and diversifying project type were among Stevens Construction’s goals for 2013. The company started two of its largest projects to date in 2013, Landmark Hospital in Naples and Oasis at ChampionsGate in Orlando. Prior to 2013, the majority of the company’s projects were in the healthcare industry, however in 2013, Stevens Construction had diversified project type to 50% healthcare and 50% commercial. Stevens Construction had achieved the goals they had set for 2013 and also increased gross revenue by 41% in 2013, earning a spot on the INC. Magazine 5000 list for the second year.

Stevens Construction also won a Summit Award in the healthcare category, winning the $2-$4.9M division for Pediatric Dentistry of Fort Myers.

In the renovation category, Stevens Construction won the $5M-$8M+ division for Florida Hospital Tampa Exterior Façade. Stevens Construction also earned a Summit Award in the $0-$1.9M division for the exterior renovation of the former Jalapeno’s building which now houses Physicians’ Primary Care and Blue Moon Pizza.

Blue Moon Pizza also earned a Summit Award in the $0-$1.9M division of the build-out/tenant in-fill category.

Stevens Construction has earned 31 Summit Awards since the program began in 2006.

The Summit Awards program recognizes BIA members who have obtained an outstanding level of success and demonstrated superior professionalism in the commercial construction industry throughout the year. The projects were judged for quality of construction, challenges, timeliness of completion, client satisfaction and safety.
